About Us: The Town of La Grange, North Carolina, is a vibrant and growing community dedicated to improving the quality of life for its residents. In our commitment to community enhancement, we are excited to announce the creation of our new, formal Recreation Department. To lead this exciting initiative, we are seeking a visionary Recreation Director who will play a critical role in developing and introducing new recreational programs and facilities.
Position Summary: As the inaugural Recreation Director, you will be responsible for the foundational development and strategic implementation of recreational services. This key position will shape the future of recreation in La Grange by establishing robust programs and state‑of‑the‑art facilities tailored to community needs.
Objectives of this Role:
- Develop a broad range of recreational programs that cater to all demographics within the community.
- Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of recreational facilities.
- Design and oversee the development of new recreational facilities.
- Engage with the community to evaluate recreational needs and enhance service offerings.
- Strategically manage the department's budget and secure additional funding through grants and partnerships.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and oversee recreational programs and activities.
- Manage facility schedules, maintenance, and operations.
- Coordinate with community groups and government agencies to align recreational services with community needs.
- Administer and oversee the department's financial operations, including budgeting and grant applications.
- Promote community participation in recreational activities through effective marketing and outreach.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a degree in Recreation Administration or a closely related degree.
- Considerable experience in recreation and athletics.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various community stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in municipal recreation management.
- Grant writing and financial management experience.
