Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.
This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (Full Time-Days)
Our ideal candidate will provide a safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. They work alongside other medical staff to ensure a safe and smooth delivery process, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with epidurals, and providing support during childbirth. In addition to their clinical responsibilities, labor and delivery nurses also have the role of educating and supporting parents about newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery after childbirth. Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. * Assess maternal and fetal status through ongoing monitoring, including vital signs, contractions, fetal heart tones, and labor progression. * Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered, including induction agents, pain management, and emergency interventions. * Assist physicians, midwives, and anesthesia providers during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric procedures. * Recognize and respond quickly to maternal or fetal emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions and escalation of care. * Educate patients and families on labor expectations, pain management options, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery. * Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, fetal monitoring strips, and patient responses. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including OB providers, NICU staff, surgical teams, and lactation consultants. * Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements. * Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, drills, and continuing education related to obstetric care.
