This is a great opportunity to join a growing and developing business and benefit from our fantastic fully funded training programs.Main duties of the jobThe job holder will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic Surgical pathway at Optegra. They will provide excellent care to all patients, with specific responsibility for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team, and also may include peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital, and assisting with minor operations.About usOptegra Eye Healthcare has been proudly recognised as one of 115 Best Big Places to Work 2025 as awarded by the Sunday Times.

Join us and be part of a team that values your growth, wellbeing, and contribution every step of the way.Job responsibilitiesCarries out a full range of registered heath care professional duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients condition and care with support from the Practitioner in charge. Maintains the privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering to Trust and department policies, reporting any difficulties with these duties to senior staff.Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, by provision or appropriate surgical instrumentation and equipment.Take responsibility to ensure all surgical equipment is disposed of correctly including ensuring appropriate decontamination and sterilisation of reusable equipment is carried out and can be evidenced.Ensure all documentation for traceability is effectively completed.QualificationsEssentialRegistered General Nurse or Operating Department PractitionerCurrent NMC/ODP registration with no restrictionsQualification in Ophthalmology or Peri operative careOne year or more ophthalmology surgical theatre experienceComputer and IT skills i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAwareness of responsibilities in relation to NMC Professional Code of ConductAwareness of CQC standards and requirementsUK RegistrationApplicants must have current UK professional registration.
