Responsibilities
- Access Control: Monitoring entry and exit points, verifying ID, issuing visitor passes and ensuring only authorized personnel enter the premises, including operation of access control systems such as key cards.
- Patrolling: Conduct regular internal and external patrols of floors, common areas and parking decks to deter unwanted activity, identify risks and monitor safety conditions.
- Surveillance Monitoring: Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms and building systems from a central security desk and respond immediately to suspicious activity or alarms.
- Emergency Response: Act as first responder to medical emergencies, fires, safety hazards or breaches. Follow site protocols, assist with evacuations and coordinate with police, fire and EMS when required.
- Customer Service: Support building tenants and visitors professionally, providing directions, assistance and safe‑walk escort services to vehicles when requested.
- Incident Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, shift notes and incident reports for any irregularities, observations, breaches or occurrences.
- Enforcement: Ensure all building policies (parking, no‑smoking, rules & safety standards) are followed by all parties on site.
Requirements
- Open availability for rotational shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the location.
- Ability to operate technology and wireless communication systems at client‑specific sites.
- Must have a valid Ontario Security License.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Physically capable of standing or walking for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kilograms.
