Position Overview
AI & Automation Team is at the forefront of Banner Health's digital transformation, driving innovation that directly impacts patient care and operational excellence. As a Senior Enterprise Architect—AI, you will lead the strategic vision and technical roadmap for AI initiatives across Banner Health. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with technology executives and clinical leaders to identify transformative AI opportunities, designing scalable architecture frameworks that balance innovation with security and compliance, mentoring cross‑functional teams on AI best practices, evaluating emerging technologies such as generative AI and machine learning models, establishing governance frameworks for responsible AI deployment, and translating complex technical concepts into compelling business cases.
Location
This is a remote position. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: AL, AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV, and WY.
Core Functions
- Lead the design of complex, multi‑domain healthcare solutions using Azure, AWS, and hybrid architectures.
- Architect AI/ML‑enabled applications for predictive analytics, clinical decision support, and operational efficiency.
- Define and enforce architecture governance, ensuring adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, NIST SP 800‑53, and internal security standards.
- Develop cloud adoption roadmaps, including Azure Landing Zones, AWS Landing Zones, hybrid connectivity, and more.
- Evaluate and select vendor solutions, balancing innovation, cost, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to create and maintain architectural artifacts, reference architectures, and capability roadmaps for enterprise consumption and integration.
- Provide thought leadership in AI ethics, data governance, and healthcare‑specific deployment strategies.
- Collaborate with executives, clinicians, and IT leaders to align technology with business goals.
- Focus relentlessly on delivering outcomes and value to the business in partnership with senior leadership, stakeholders, and vendor partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of progressive IT experience in development, infrastructure, or systems analysis.
- 4+ years of solution or enterprise architecture experience.
- Must obtain one or more of the following certifications within one year of hire: Microsoft Certified Azure Solution Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional, Google Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF Certified Architect, or ITIL Intermediate.
- Proven experience in cloud‑based healthcare solutions, including AI/ML deployments.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, interoperability, and security.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare or a regulated industry.
- 5+ years of experience designing solutions utilizing AI components.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proven mentorship of junior architects or engineers.
- Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert, AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, or Salesforce Certified Technical Architect.
Estimated Pay Range
$65.70 – $109.50 per hour. The posted compensation range reflects a reasonable estimate based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. Final pay will be based on a review of qualifications and similar roles.
