Senior Design Engineer (Electrical Power Systems)
Location: New Iberia, LA or Houston Metro Area, TX

About the Opportunity
A leading provider of temporary and permanent power solutions is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to support the design and execution of complex power generation projects. This role is responsible for engineering design, technical analysis, project documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver safe, reliable, and cost‑effective electrical power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical power systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Support the commercial team by conducting site visits, evaluating customer requirements, presenting technical solutions, and developing engineering proposals.
- Prepare project design packages, including calculations, equipment specifications, electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and bills of materials.
- Coordinate the specification and procurement of power system equipment.
- Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and field operations, both remotely and on-site.
- Analyze operational and performance data to verify compliance with design and project requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project development.
- Develop and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Perform electrical system studies using ETAP, PSCAD, or equivalent software, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short‑circuit/fault analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical power systems or power generation engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power system design, and applicable industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system analysis software such as ETAP or PSCAD.
- Ability to travel periodically to customer sites and project locations.
- Experience with EPC projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and medium‑voltage power systems is highly desirable.
