Role Title: Senior Engineering Manager Position ID - 2026_1531 Job Summary: The Senior Engineering Manager FinOps & Automation is a hands-on technical leader and people manager responsible for driving enterprise-wide cloud financial engineering, automation, and cost optimization across multi-cloud and SaaS environments.
This role combines deep technical expertise, engineering-driven automation, and team leadership to deliver measurable financial outcomes, including cost transparency, optimization at scale, and proactive governance. The leader will build and manage a high-performing team while actively contributing to solution design, automation development, and FinOps innovation. The position partners closely with Cloud Platform, Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Finance teams to embed cost efficiency into architecture, enforce policy-as-code governance, and enable real-time financial visibility and accountability.
CANDIDATE PROFILE: Education and Experience: Required: Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification 10+ years in IT with progressive leadership experience , including FinOps ownership 5+ years of hands-on public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) 3+ years in FinOps / Cloud Cost Optimization implementation Strong expertise in automation, scripting (Python, Bash), and engineering solutions Deep experience with: Public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, Ali Cloud Kubernetes, container cost optimization, data platforms (Snowflake, EMR) Infrastructure-as-Code, policy-as-code frameworks Managing large-scale cloud environments and budgets Cloud cost management tools and analytics Cost optimization strategies and workload efficiency Managing large-scale cloud environments and budgets Cost analytics, reporting, and dashboarding Preferred: Experience building large-scale distributed systems Exposure to AI/ML-based optimization and predictive cost modeling Experience in fast-paced, global enterprise environments Strong people management and team development capabilities Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement Ability to translate technical insights into executive-level financial impact narratives Proven track record of driving enterprise-scale transformation and optimization programs People Management Responsibilities: Manager+ Roles Team Leadership & Culture Provide clear direction and context so the team connects its work to broader goals; role-model organisational values; build a psychologically safe environment for open feedback and idea-sharing. Engagement & Inclusion Monitor team engagement/pulse survey results and drive action plans; foster an inclusive culture and support diversity & inclusion initiatives. Communication & Cascading Hold regular 1:1s with direct reports (and, at Sr Manager level, with managers reporting to them); cascade organisational updates and business context in a timely, transparent manner.
Performance Management Set SMART goals for direct reports, conduct fair and well-differentiated performance evaluations, and participate constructively in calibration to ensure ratings are defensible and consistent. Career Development & Coaching Build individual development plans aligned to career aspirations; provide ongoing coaching and stretch opportunities; identify and nurture high-potential talent. Managing Underperformance Identify underperformance early, address it through honest and timely conversations, and implement structured performance improvement plans where required.
Succession & Retention Identify flight-risk employees and critical roles; proactively retain key talent and build succession readiness particularly important at Sr Manager level given accountability for manager-of-manager structures. Hiring & Capacity Planning Define role requirements, participate in hiring decisions, and plan team capacity/headcount in line with business demand and budget. Employee Relations Handle grievances, interpersonal conflicts, and sensitive people matters promptly and confidentially; partner with HR on disciplinary matters and escalate appropriately.
Governance & Compliance (People Dimension) Ensure the team adheres to organisational policies, and that people-related records/processes remain audit-ready, including support for business continuity/succession planning for key-person risk.
