Onsite. The primary office is located in Canberra. Flexible working arrangements, including remote work and work from home, may be considered at the discretion of the client. Travel associated with the role will be at the contractor's expense.
Clearance Required
Must have a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.

Job Description
Cleared is seeking three experienced Senior Full Stack Engineers to join a high-performing technology team within the Australian Federal Police. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems that directly support national security, law enforcement operations and the delivery of vital public services. You will play a key role in designing, developing and enhancing modern applications while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the AFP's technology landscape.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, contribute to architectural decisions and work collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality software solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyse complex ICT business challenges and recommend effective technical solutions
- Design, develop and maintain full stack applications and services
- Create and update technical design artefacts and solution documentation
- Develop and enhance user interfaces, backend services and system integrations
- Design and implement APIs and integration solutions across enterprise platforms
- Support cloud-native application development and platform engineering initiatives
- Implement secure, scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Collaborate with testing, release management and operational teams to deliver successful deployments
- Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex application and system issues
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical standards and frameworks
- Support the analysis and implementation of system enhancements and new capabilities
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Provide mentoring, coaching and guidance to other technical team members
- Maintain high-quality documentation in accordance with organisational requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices, processes and procedures
- Share knowledge and support capability uplift across teams
Education/Certifications Required
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Industry certifications in cloud technologies, software engineering or DevSecOps are highly regarded
- Ongoing professional development and commitment to maintaining contemporary technical knowledge
Knowledge/Skills Required
- Strong experience in full stack application development
- Expertise in modern frontend and backend development frameworks
- Experience designing and developing APIs and system integrations
- Cloud-native application development experience
- DevSecOps principles, automation and CI/CD pipeline experience
- Secure software development and application security best practices
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience conducting code reviews and implementing engineering standards
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities
- Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor junior team members
Desirable
- Experience working within Federal Government, Defence, Intelligence or National Security environments
- Existing Australian Government Security Clearance
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives
- Exposure to modern cloud platforms and automation tooling
