Senior Legal Contracts Manager
Come lead with us at Houston Methodist Hospital. At Houston Methodist, the Senior Legal Contracts Manager position is responsible for coordinating and managing high‑profile legal projects of considerable complexity for the Department of Legal Services, with a focus on reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and executing Clinical Trial Agreements (CTA) as well as sponsored research and collaboration agreements.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate, manage, and complete contract review processes with minimal supervision.
- Lead the legal contract review process for identified contracts and manage their life cycle.
- Draft, negotiate, and execute CTAs and other related agreements.
- Identify legal and regulatory issues, provide analysis, and recommend actions to attorneys and internal clients.
- Communicate status and negotiate issues with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of legal contracts, tracking progress and ensuring timely delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Houston Methodist and Department of Legal Services policies and business requirements.
- Represent Houston Methodist with third parties during CTA negotiations.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of contract documents, mitigating organizational risk.
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctorate Degree.
- Experience: Five years managing complex legal document review, creation, and analysis, OR two or more years negotiating CTAs on behalf of life‑sciences manufacturers, contract research organizations, or academic medical centers.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication with physicians, coworkers, and executives; strong written and oral skills.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and project‑management abilities.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Intermediate word‑processing skills.
- Adaptability to manage multiple high‑priority demands.
- Professional handling of confidential and sensitive information.
