Senior Payroll Specialist
Location: Hybrid/Remote
Candidates should reside in one of the following areas:
- Florida—either Jacksonville, Daytona or Orlando
- Arizona—Phoenix
- GA/NJ— Either Macon, GA or the greater NY/NJ area.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to manage and execute all aspects of the payroll cycle for a multi-state workforce. This role requires a highly organized professional who can work independently, maintain confidentiality, and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for employees across multiple states on a biweekly basis.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and taxes.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy prior to final processing.
- Manage payroll-related employee inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Administer payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and benefit deductions.
- Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee and compensation data.
- Assist with payroll reports, tax filings and benefit deductions reconciliations.
- Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and payroll records.
- Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements and increased efficiency.

Requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of payroll processing experience, including full-cycle payroll administration.
- Multi-state payroll experience strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll independently with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Paylocity preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
Preferred Attributes
- CPP certification is a plus.
- Experience supporting high-growth or distributed organizations preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage responsibilities independently and proactively.
