Job Description
The Sr. Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for providing timely and accurate support of multi‑state payroll tax related activities.
What You Will Do
- Partner with internal colleagues, clients, and customers to resolve case creation/closure and Service Orders.
- Handle case inquiries and follow‑up, provide email support, and assist phone queue support.
- Resolve moderate complexity, high‑volume tasks related to workflow as assigned.
- Communicate internally with colleagues and externally via client cases, email, and telephone as the primary customer support for Payroll Tax Compliance, Reporting, and W2 support.
- Work proficiently in Salesforce to document customer inquiries and resolutions.
- Process various data‑related tasks within the Payroll Tax organization such as payments, reports, check requests, registrations, and filings.
- Escalate identified customer concerns or tax changes to leadership.
- Help support newer Specialists as an SME.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Education Qualifications
- General education, vocational training and/or on‑the‑job training required.
Experience Qualifications
- Typically 4+ years payroll tax experience required.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality work product (Intermediate proficiency).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Intermediate proficiency).
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills (Intermediate proficiency).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate proficiency).
- Proficient understanding of US payroll tax including federal, state, and local laws and regulations (Intermediate proficiency).
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (Intermediate proficiency).
- High commitment to professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace (Intermediate proficiency).
- Ability to follow established procedures in a timely manner (Intermediate proficiency).
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)‑APA preferred.
- Fundamental Payroll Certificate preferred.

Preferred location: Atlanta, GA. Salary range: $25.24 to $42.93 per hour. All qualified external applicants will be considered for an in‑office role based in Atlanta. All qualified internal candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered for remote hire at the company’s discretion. Compensation may also include bonus pay consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
