Senior Principal Software Engineer/ Staff Software Engineer

Job Details Title: Senior Principal Software Engineer / Staff Software Engineer (Multiple Positions) Salary: $222,287–$232,287 per year Location: 4321 Collington Road, Bowie, MD 20716 (and other U.S. locations) Responsibilities Architect, design, create, test, and ensure the quality of large‑scale or complex software for a major product or product line. Responsible for high‑level research and analysis related to software design and development. Use best software engineering practices to evolve system design.

Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers. Manage integration, testing, and deployment tasks to oversee server fleets and complex computing systems for automation, improvement, and performance. Establish and maintain software configuration control and development environments, including source control for reliable backups and code integrity.

Design and refactor through rapid prototyping and experimentation during research and refactor spikes. Write and maintain documentation describing program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections. Produce high‑quality, testable code that meets the Definition of Done.

Eliminate technical debt. Create automated unit, system, and acceptance tests. Support early and continuous validation of features and stories with customers, analysts, and Inovalon's customer‑facing teams to maximize the market value of the software delivered at each increment.

Continuously evaluate software performance, identify degradation, and seize opportunities for performance improvements valued by customers. Understand the healthcare domain and technical trends that will impact or drive architecture. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Technology Management, Electronics and Communications Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent plus at least 6 years progressively responsible post‑baccalaureate experience in IT‑related roles or job titles.

At least 6 years of experience with: Unix management, computing platforms, and technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high‑performance computing C#, .NET platform including .NET Framework 4.6.1 Angular JavaScript frameworks SOAP and RESTful web services ASP.NET Core 2.x Kafka Azure API Gateway Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) Telecommuting available.
