Senior Project Engineer
Averro
Job Description
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401k, sick leave, and employee assistance program, paid holidays, and legal insurance.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer for an established industrial equipment manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered combustion, thermal, and gas-handling systems, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in mechanical design, pressure systems, and cross-functional manufacturing environments looking to further their career in custom project engineering.
- Own the full engineering lifecycle for custom equipment projects — from upfront design and requirements definition through BOM development, drawing review, production support, and field commissioning.
- Partner with the sales team at the quoting stage to identify design requirements, assess feasibility, and translate customer specifications into executable engineering plans.
- Select materials, size and specify components, and develop BOMs and data sheet modifications to support fabrication and test builds.
- Review and approve designer-drafted models and drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer specs, applicable codes (including ASME), and quality standards.
- Provide hands‑on production support during build — troubleshooting fit and component issues as they arise and driving solutions through to resolution.
- Develop test plans, support factory acceptance testing, and validate designs for projects with special features or first-of-kind configurations.
- Maintain project documentation including BOMs, drawings, and data sheets; interface with procurement, production, and customers throughout execution.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5–7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct involvement in hands‑on design (not scheduling or project coordination).
- Demonstrated ability to perform engineering calculations, size and select components, and carry designs from specification through production release independently.
- Experience working with metals, fabricated assemblies, and piping systems; familiarity with pressure system design is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD; comfortable reviewing and redlining designer-produced models and drawings.
- Strong cross‑functional communication skills — able to work effectively with sales, procurement, production, and external customers.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- ASME code familiarity (Sections I, VIII, or related pressure vessel standards).
- Experience developing and executing test plans, running test builds, or supporting factory acceptance testing.
- Background in combustion equipment, heat exchangers, gas trains, or thermal processing systems.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
