Please note that this is a (contract/contract to hire/direct hire) opportunity with our client and NOT with NRI. The Sr. Project Engineer manages project engineering functions and provides engineering support to Project Manager on large-scale/highly complex capital improvement projects in accordance with Client best practices and has responsibilities for the coordination of the day-to-day planning and engineering initiatives to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within budget and within scope.
Candidates should have a qualifying engineering or project management background in the Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, Architectural, Construction disciplines or other relevant discipline. Manages project engineering functions and provides senior level project engineering support on large-scale/highly complex capital improvement and maintenance/repair projects form conception through completion, as assignedConsistently and effectively manages smaller scale projects successfully [defined as: completed on time, within budget, and meets (or exceeds) company expectations]Facilitates engineering meetings and supports the Project Manager at executive level meetingsCultivates and develops trusted adviser relationship with Project Steering Committee/Stakeholders by delivering appropriate and effective executive level communicationWorks in partnership with Division/Operation department heads, sponsors and steering teams to support projects for successful deliveryFosters an environment of continuous improvement and learning; works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellenceIdentifies and removes roadblocks by providing feedback, encouragement, and advice; escalating appropriate issues for resolutionProvides design and engineering support to Client construction and maintenance personnelPrepares drawings and/or supervises the development of drawings to support all projectsReviews design documentation for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and related specificationsSpecifies and orders materials related to facility and process system expansion or renovationManages outside consultants, contractors and vendors in order to implement and complete projectsCoordinates activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design problemsEnsures compliance to project specifications, the company’s safety program expectations, and all applicable regulatory codesAssists with the development of other Project Engineers by coaching/mentoring, motivating, and inspiring others QualificationsB.S. Degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, Architectural, Construction Management or other relevant discipline5+ years of experience in project engineering, management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience are necessaryExpertise in Project Engineering practices and tools with a strong track record of successfully completing large-scale/complex projectsMicrosoft Office (Using standard functions in Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Outlook)AutoCAD drawing/interpretation capabilities, including ACAD related softwareMicrosoft Project familiarity requiredCommunicates clearly and confidently, tailoring messages to diverse audiencesAbility to effectively manage engineering functions from concept to completion using Client acknowledged principals and methodsOrganizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work to effectively manage multiple projects at one timePossesses the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback from employees at all levels of ClientSelf-motivated and self-directed; can effectively cope with ambiguityProven ability to influence, motivate, and lead team members to deliver projects successfullyBrings forward new ideas and innovative solutions to improve processes, outcomes, and cultureDemonstrates strong understanding of financial principles and practicesAbility to take initiative on solving complex problems and issuesDemonstrates the ability to effectively coach and mentor others
