Senior Software Developer (Energy Trading)

Location: North Holland, Netherlands
Language Requirement: Native Dutch Speaker Preferred

Our client, a growing energy trading and energy-focused business in North Holland, is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join their technology team. This role offers the opportunity to build and improve business-critical platforms that support trading, market operations, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

Please note: This position has a strong preference for native Dutch speakers. Candidates must be fluent in Dutch and comfortable communicating with Dutch-speaking stakeholders across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions.
• Working closely with traders, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful technology.
• Building and improving APIs, automation tools, and data-driven applications.
• Contributing to software architecture and technical decision-making.
• Supporting cloud-based environments and modern development practices.
• Mentoring junior developers and promoting engineering best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with Python and modern software engineering principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, and containerisation technologies.
• Background working on business-critical systems in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical projects.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Native Dutch speaker or fully fluent Dutch speaker strongly preferred.
• Previous experience within the energy, utilities, trading, commodities, or broader energy sector is highly desirable.
