A well-funded semiconductor company based in Texas is at the forefront of ultra-low-power chip design for the AI edge. With a proven commercial track record and a large global customer base spanning wearables, medical devices, and IoT, they are now aggressively expanding their AI software and tooling capabilities to complement their hardware portfolio.

As part of this expansion, they are building out the team behind their internal Edge AI development and deployment platform, a system designed to accelerate the journey from model training to production deployment across a range of constrained embedded targets.

They are now looking for a Senior Applied ML Engineer to design, train, optimise, and deploy highly efficient on-device AI models, with deep expertise across audio and computer vision domains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimise on-device ML models for constrained, real-time, battery-powered products, balancing accuracy with latency, memory, and energy
• Build and maintain modular AI development tooling covering datasets, model architectures, tasks, and training recipes
• Apply model efficiency techniques: quantization (PTQ/QAT), compression, pruning, and structured sparsification
• Translate cutting-edge research into production-grade demos and reference implementations
• Serve as domain expert in audio (KWS, speech enhancement, TTS) and/or vision (classification, detection, segmentation, pose, tracking)
• Port and optimise models to edge runtimes, ensuring correctness, performance, and usability across hardware targets
• Deliver customer-facing assets including documentation, tutorials, benchmarks, and white papers

Ideal Profile:

• 5+ years of relevant ML engineering experience (BS required; MS or PhD in ML, EE, signal processing, CV, or robotics highly desirable)
• Strong proficiency in Python; working knowledge of C/C++ and/or Rust for runtime integration
• Domain expertise in audio AI and/or computer vision for edge deployment
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or Keras
• Hands-on with edge deployment stacks: ONNX, LiteRT, or ExecuTorch
• Strong ML engineering fundamentals: data pipelines, augmentation, metrics, experiment reproducibility, and failure analysis
• Comfortable in Linux with Docker/dev containers
• DSP fundamentals (e.g. FFT) a strong plus
