Job Description
Owns specific projects on corporate strategic analysis, competitive research, and product/service evaluation. Derives key insights for Vanguard through competitive research. Informs firm-wide strategy and decision making by analyzing complex data, diagnosing operational issues or inefficiencies, evaluating Vanguard's strategy compared to our competitors, and uncovering ways to improve investor outcomes across business offerings.
Responsibilities
- Drive strong business outcomes through accurate, high impact, data‑driven analyses, and be comfortable with ambiguity.
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with internal clients (primarily senior leaders) and key stakeholders/business partners.
- Create compelling storylines through which to deliver strategic, competitive, and product/offer analyses and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Provide direction and guidance to a team of strategy analysts aligned with each Vanguard line of business around key strategic topics and questions.
- Provide thought‑leadership by identifying strategic topics and presenting compelling ideas for research evaluation to the Corporate Strategy organization.
- Participate in department‑level planning for Vanguard, contributing insights derived from analysis and synthesis of the team. Manage client relationships and anticipate needs.
- Conduct efficient and thorough analyses of substantial (i.e., high impact) strategic issues confronting FAS utilizing strategic methodologies.
- Leverage and manage cross‑functional teams as required. Prepare and present strategic analysis, findings, and recommendations to senior management (e.g., storylines, presentations, whitepapers).
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental objectives. Work with senior management in the planning, development and execution of short‑ and long‑range goals.
- Keep abreast of industry, market and company trends, and partner with business leaders to understand key concerns and opportunities for each line of business; tailor analysis and synthesis around these topics.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience (Master's degree or PhD preferred).
- Minimum of eight years’ business experience, including significant experience in strategy consulting and financial analysis.
