Software Engineer – Developer (Development) Company: The Boeing Company Location: Seal Beach, California (100% onsite required) Role: Senior Software Engineer, Developer on the National Systems Programs (NSP) software team. The primary focus is on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. This position involves full‑stack development using AWS infrastructure, collaborating across cross‑functional teams to design and implement scalable software solutions, and ensuring engineering excellence throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities Lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web applications that meet industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards. Translate customer requirements into software design and architecture. Coordinate development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
Document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products. Lead the agile software development lifecycle, including planning, reviews, and customer meetings. Debug and resolve issues to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback. Research and implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development. Develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics aligned with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
Document research and development projects and consult on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes, and regulations. Manage software project activities and software supplier relationships. Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated polygraph. (A clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and adjudicated polygraph pre‑start. 5+ years of foundational Computer Science knowledge. 5+ years of experience in Python. 5+ years of experience in JavaScript and/or TypeScript, including frameworks such as React.
Preferred Qualifications B.Sc. in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science, plus 9+ years of related work experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree with 13+ years of directly related experience; OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience. Experience leading projects and/or individuals during software development lifecycle tasks. Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns. 2+ years of Agile or SAFe practice experience (daily stand‑up, User Stories, Sprints, Release Planning).
Familiarity with relational databases. Experience with infrastructure tooling: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines. Experience writing and executing unit, integration, and system tests to ensure software functionality and performance meet specifications.
Experience with systems engineering or software development on space‑based or ground‑based systems. Additional Details Travel: Occasionally required, less than 10%. Shift: Shift 1 (United States of America).
