Toast’s International UK team is looking for a Software Engineer I. This engineer will play a valuable role in developing best-in‑class product experiences for Toast’s growing UK customer base. You will work closely with the Design, Product and Customer teams to build solutions that best serve our UK customers.
As a member of the team, you will be surrounded by other talented engineers to learn from and level‑up your skills, as well as learn new technologies leveraged across the Toast technology stack.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)
- Design, build and deploy best-in-class product experiences that are used daily by our customers.
- Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code across both backend and frontend applications.
- Collaborate across engineering, product and design to plan and execute on work.
- Take ownership of feature delivery, from design through implementation, testing, deployment and iteration.
What you’ll need to thrive (Requirements)
- Proficient in Java, Kotlin or another object‑oriented language, with an understanding of testing, quality & best practices.
- Proficiency with modern JavaScript technologies, such as React/Angular/Vue and TypeScript.
- Ability to embrace an agile mindset focused on delivering usable software.
- A passion for technology and continuous learning.
- Passionate about driving impact, through delivering meaningful software products, that our customers use everyday.
Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)
- Experience levering AI‑assisted tools to accelerate development, and enhance productivity across the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity building or integrating with GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with asynchronous communication tools (e.g., Pulsar, Kafka).
