The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will install, inspect, and maintain fire alarm systems to ensure they comply with safety codes and function correctly.Job Duties:Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and bendersAttach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipmentLay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, according to blueprintsCut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power toolsPerform new installations, retrofit and repair of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire sprinkler systemsSecure all tools and equipment at the end of each workdayPerform routine maintenance on Fire Suppression SystemsIsolate Suppression Systems for OutagesEnsures all work adheres to federal, state, and local fire safety codes, including standards from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)Checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containersInspect, test, and repair sprinkler switches, flows, tamper, and/or pressure switchesInspect, test and maintain suppression systems in accordance with UFC 3-601-2Operate Government motor vehicles and/or other equipmentMaintain and repair the different clappers, valves, water gongs, pipe structures, retard chambers, as well as other devices or trim parts necessary for normal suppression operationsUse specialized equipment to test system functionality and identify issuesDiagnoses malfunctions, troubleshooting system issues, and performing necessary repairs to keep systems operationalUse a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instrumentsKeeps accurate records of all installations, inspections, and repairsIt is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment PPE in accordance with supervisory direction and company policyPerform other duties as required ResponsibilitiesBasic Qualifications:High School Education with five years’ experience and knowledge of electrical equipment, circuits, and electronic components related to alarm systems is necessary NICET Certification (Level I) or be able to obtain Level I Certification within six months of hire date and maintain CertificationNICET Certification (Level II) or be able to obtain Level II Certification within two years of hire date and maintain CertificationFamiliar with various types of sprinkler systemsFamiliar with basic mathematical functions is requiredExtensive knowledge of applicable codes and standardsMust be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area networkCurrent U.
