About the Role:
Sr. Engineer, Platform leads the design, development, and automation of T-Mobiles data and infrastructure platforms that enable analytics and software delivery across the enterprise. This role serves as a technical expert, driving platform reliability, scalability, and modernization through cloud-native and automation-first solutions.
The engineer builds reusable frameworks, integrates infrastructure as code, and enhances observability across complex systems. This position provides technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural direction that advances T-Mobiles builder culture and accelerates cloud and data transformation.
What Youll Do:
- Architect, design, and implement automated, cloud-native platform solutions using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Ansible
- Develop reusable platform components, automation frameworks, and blueprints for multi-cloud environments including Azure, AWS, and GCP
- Identify, assess, and automate repetitive manual platform tasks by developing backend scripts and utilities in Python, PowerShell reducing toil, minimizing human error, and accelerating platform delivery cycles
- Build and maintain internal automation tooling to streamline platform provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows, enabling engineering teams to focus on higher-value activities
- Lead orchestration and automation across platform technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Control-M to improve scalability, security, and performance
- Design, implement, and maintain advanced observability, monitoring, and alerting solutions to improve platform reliability and operational response
- Define platform standards, reference architectures, and best practices in collaboration with enterprise architecture and security partners
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and design leadership
- Document platform architectures, runbooks, and automation frameworks to enable reuse and consistency across teams
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 57 years of combined software engineering, DevOps, and platform engineering experience with a strong focus on automation and reduce manual tasks
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying infrastructure using infrastructure as code in Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Strong experience working with modern platform technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Control-M, AWS, Azure
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to reason across complex platform and system architectures
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across cross-functional teams
Must Have Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in programming and automation using Python, and PowerShell
- Deep experience with cloud platforms and architectures, including Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP
- Advanced proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates
- Strong expertise with data and platform technologies including Snowflake, Databricks, and pipeline orchestration tools
- Ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient platform systems
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices, including Git, automated testing, and deployment pipelines
- Experience with database design, SQL performance optimization, and system architecture
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Basic knowledge of implementing AI solutions using Claude code or Cursor.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with additional programming languages such as Java
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Metric Insights, Qlik Sense)
- Experience with data virtualization tools such as Denodo, analytical tools such as SAS, or on-prem platforms such as Hadoop
- Platform and cloud certifications such as:
- Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Solutions Architect (AZ-305)
- Terraform Associate or Professional Certification
- SnowPro Advanced or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional
- Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS)
