Job Description
Job PurposeThe Pricing Executive is responsible for securing, managing, and analyzing freight rates across multiple modes of transport (Ocean FCL/LCL, Air, and Land). This role acts as the vital link between carriers, internal sales teams, and overseas agents to compile highly competitive, accurate, and timely freight quotes (RFQs) that win new business while maintaining healthy company profit margins. Key ResponsibilitiesRate Sourcing & Procurement: Liaise daily with Main Line Operators (MLOs), airlines, NVOCCs, and transport vendors to source competitive freight rates, local charges, and sailing/flight schedules. Quotation & RFQ Management: Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely pricing proposals/spot quotes for domestic clients, internal sales teams, and overseas networks. Handle complex multi-lane corporate bidding (RFQs). Carrier Negotiation: Negotiate spot rates, contractual tariffs, and space allocations with carriers to secure cost-efficient logistics solutions. Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze global freight market trends, fuel surcharges (BAF/FAF), and competitor activities to optimize pricing logic and strategy. Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Operations team to verify space availability/routing alternatives and support the Sales team on joint client calls to help close profitable deals. Database Management: Maintain and regularly update the internal freight management system (e.g., CargoWise) with the latest tariffs, contracts, and monthly rate sheets. Reporting: Track and prepare weekly/monthly reports on conversion ratios (quotes sent vs. bookings won), vendor performance, and pricing trends.Required Knowledge & SkillsDomain Expertise: Strong understanding of ocean freight (FCL/LCL dynamics), air freight processes, Incoterms, customs parameters, and local port/terminal handling charges. Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to build relationships and push back against carriers to drive down rate structures. Analytical Ability: Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills to calculate variable margins, surcharges, and volumetric weight conversions.Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and freight management systems.Speed & Accuracy: Ability to work under intense pressure with tight turnaround times for time-sensitive spot market requests. Education & Experience RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related discipline.Experience: 1 to 4 years of proven experience in pricing, procurement, or customer service specifically within a freight forwarding or shipping line environment.
