Systems Software Developer
Lumu Technologies
Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Software Developer with deep technical expertise in low-level systems and networking. Our core infrastructure relies on C++, and we are expanding our search to include engineers proficient in modern systems languages like Go or Rust who possess a strong command of the machine and network layers.
What You Will Be Doing
At Lumu, you will be at the front line of cyber‑defense, architecting high‑performance artifacts that operate at the intersection of OS internals and high‑velocity network traffic. You will tackle complex engineering challenges—from optimizing packet inspection pipelines to debugging low‑level system interactions—directly impacting our mission to neutralize threats in real time. This is a rare opportunity to join a polyglot engineering team where your expertise will drive the evolution of our platform.
Required Skills
- Solid, demonstrated knowledge of OS internals (Windows/macOS/Linux).
- Deep understanding of networking protocols and the TCP/IP stack.
- Proficiency in at least one systems programming language: Go, Rust, or C++.
- Scripting proficiency (e.g., Python) for automation and tooling.
- Ability to work effectively at the machine level, including memory management concepts and system‑level interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience building and maintaining backend or systems software in cloud or containerized environments.
- Experience with packet inspection platforms (e.g., Zeek, Suricata, Snort, Arkime).
- Experience developing system drivers or kernel‑level modules.
- Previous experience working in a polyglot environment.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, network protocols, and secure coding practices is highly beneficial.
