Job Description
Overview
Seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join the tax team. This role is based in the Natomas, Sacramento, CA office, with a hybrid work schedule available after the training period. It is ideal for a licensed CPA with at least five years of public accounting experience in taxation who enjoys managing client relationships, leading tax engagements, mentoring staff, and providing strategic tax planning services.
Work Schedule
Hybrid work schedule available following the initial training period. Based in the Natomas, Sacramento, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple tax engagements and client projects simultaneously, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow coordination.
- Assist partners with tax planning, tax research, and compliance services.
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and other entities.
- Apply advanced tax and accounting principles to provide effective tax planning and compliance solutions.
- Identify potential issues during engagements and communicate recommendations to partners and team members.
- Develop an understanding of clients\' businesses to identify tax planning opportunities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between partners, clients, and professional staff.
- Communicate with clients regarding tax return information, deadlines, and compliance matters.
- Prepare correspondence with the IRS and state tax authorities.
- Continue developing technical expertise through ongoing training and professional development.
- Mentor, train, and supervise staff while contributing to business development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license required.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a focus on taxation.
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- C Corporations
- S Corporations
- Partnerships
- Individual taxation
- Accounting methods
- Property transactions
- Tax research
- Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Excellent customer service, communication, analytical, project management, and interpersonal skills.
