Pay Details Work Location: Montréal, Quebec, Canada Hours: 35 Line Of Business: TD Insurance Salary: 79,100 – 111,700 CAD per annum. Job Description TD Insurance is part of TD Bank Group and protects clients from the ‘accidents of life’ with a wide range of products including credit protection, life, health, travel, home and auto insurance. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Commercial Property and is responsible for managing commercial property claims from initial investigation through resolution.
This position requires applying technical judgment, strong customer service skills, and a sense of urgency to deliver fair, accurate, and timely claim outcomes while keeping customers informed and supported throughout the claims experience. Responsibilities Provide sound advice and clear communication at every customer interaction to support a legendary customer experience. Treat each claim as unique, using sound judgment and appropriate methods to reach fair and equitable claim resolutions.
Gather, assemble, and verify information and documentation from all available sources to support a thorough investigation and confirm coverage. Review insurance policies, contracts, endorsements, and related documentation to accurately assess coverage, conditions, exclusions, and limits. Review damage estimates, appraisals, expert reports, and supporting documentation to determine probable outcomes and support accurate reserving practices.
Evaluate new information and revise reserves promptly to maintain accurate case reserves and support strong claims discipline. Provide proactive updates to customers throughout the claims lifecycle so they understand next steps and feel supported in the process. Resolve customer concerns appropriately and elevate issues when required in accordance with TD Insurance processes and guidelines.
Work with claim management vendors, appraisers, and experts to maintain service standards and support timely claim resolution. Remain current on applicable case law, regulatory and legislative changes, policy wording, and internal procedures relevant to commercial property claims. Apply claims management principles and procedures to manage claims costs, reduce leakage, and support consistent quality outcomes.
Identify red flags, fraud indicators, coverage concerns, and other risk issues, and handle or elevate them according to organizational processes and procedures. Meet departmental productivity, quality, and service expectations, including file inventory, cycle time, open/close ratio, and other performance objectives. Participate fully as a member of the team by supporting a positive work environment that promotes service, quality, innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
Qualifications College or university degree and/or equivalent related work experience. 3+ years of experience handling Commercial Property claims, including exposure to Crime and Business Interruption coverages. Bilingualism in English and French is required for this role. Must possess a valid AMF claims adjuster license.
Strong knowledge of commercial property insurance policies, coverage interpretation, claims investigation, reserving, and settlement practices. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy during complex claim situations. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, experts, and internal business partners. CIP designation or active progress toward CIP is considered an asset.
