POSITION SUMMARY: As a Team Leader – IT Software Engineering, you will lead an agile software development team, drive delivery excellence, and shape the technical direction of projects. This role combines people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking, ensuring high-quality software solutions aligned with business goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead a team of associates responsible for the execution of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with Garmin’s agile scrum teams.
Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, execution, and schedule adherence Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation Mentor, coach, and support team members’ growth and performance Drive continuous improvement in development processes and delivery practices Collaborate on requirements, design, and architecture decisions Oversee development and maintenance of scalable web applications (Java/Spring) Identify and recommend new technologies aligned with business needs Foster a positive team culture and high-performance environment Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent Escalate risks/issues appropriately and ensure alignment with leadership OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed Support and participate in performance evaluation processes, including reviews and feedback with manager guidance Perform other job-related duties as assigned EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or another substantially similar field 10+ years of experience in software development, with proven experience (minimum 3 years) in leading and managing engineering teams Strong experience in Java-based web application development Hands-on expertise with Spring / Spring Boot frameworks Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Fluency in English is required Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and challenging environments Strong understanding of business requirements and customer-focused delivery
