Overview
Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager – Global Industry Leader
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
We’re looking for a Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager with strong US GAAP expertise—particularly ASC 606 and ASC 842—who thrives in a collaborative environment and tackles complex, high-impact work. You’ll serve as a go-to resource for technical accounting matters, partner cross-functionally with senior leadership, and help guide accounting policies for a large, global business.
Key Responsibilities
- Review significant customer contracts to ensure compliance with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition).
- Provide oversight for lease accounting in compliance with ASC 842 (Leases).
- Support goodwill impairment assessments under ASC 350.
- Provide accounting guidance for complex and non-routine transactions (business combinations, sale-leasebacks, derivatives, etc.).
- Research and resolve complex technical accounting issues, documenting positions with memos and white papers.
- Draft and update accounting policies, ensuring compliance with evolving FASB guidance.
- Monitor new accounting standards and oversee their timely adoption.
- Partner with auditors, tax, legal, FP&A, and operational teams on technical accounting matters.
- Participate in month-end and quarterly close activities, including account analysis and balance sheet review.
- Mentor and oversee the work of one or more direct reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or a publicly traded company.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
- Excellent technical writing, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience managing and developing team members.
