Position Overview
Reliance One is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead onsite engineering and project execution activities for electrification solutions projects in Houston, Texas. The Technical Project Manager will serve as the primary onsite technical leader, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer expectations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on professional with a strong electrical construction background and experience managing complex field operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate onsite engineering activities to ensure alignment with project requirements, quality standards, and compliance.
- Serve as the primary onsite technical authority, performing daily inspections to verify installation, assembly, and commissioning activities meet engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Lead issue resolution efforts while maintaining project schedules and minimizing delays.
- Manage field documentation, including punch lists, pre‑task planning, safety walkdowns, LOTO verification, and PPE compliance.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including photographs, checklists, punch items, project status updates, and risk reporting.
- Act as the primary onsite point of contact for customers, escalating issues as necessary to protect project timelines and customer satisfaction.
- Provide hands‑on troubleshooting support for electrical systems and basic mechanical and controls systems.
- Lead project acceptance, contract close‑out activities, and obtain customer sign‑off upon project completion.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a zero‑incident culture.
- 10+ years of construction or field experience, preferably with an electrical systems background.
- Completion of two years of trade school, college coursework, or equivalent journeyman experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one‑line diagrams, specifications, and submittals.
- Working knowledge of ATS, UPS, and switchgear systems.
- Familiarity with commissioning activities and EPMS/SCADA systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors, trade labor, and multi‑disciplinary field teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience managing matrix teams and cross‑functional organizations.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience using project planning software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
