Vice President of Finance for High-Growth, Financial Services Firm!
StevenDouglas
Job Description
StevenDouglas has been retained by a highly profitable, fast-growing financial services organization headquartered in Miami's Brickell financial district. Backed by a nationally recognized parent company with significant institutional resources, the business combines the autonomy and pace of an entrepreneurial firm with the stability and infrastructure of a large, established organization.
We have been retained on a confidential basis to identify a Vice President of Finance – a newly created role that will serve as the senior-most finance leader for the business and the right hand to the CEO.
Why This Role Is Different
This is a rare opportunity to build a finance function from the ground up at a company that is already profitable and scaling quickly. Most finance leaders inherit systems, processes, and teams. This person will create them.
- You will own the entire finance and accounting function. Today, month-end close and core accounting are handled by an external firm. You will bring those functions in-house, establish standardized processes, and build the infrastructure to support the company's next phase of growth.
- You will select and implement a new ERP system. The business currently runs on manual, spreadsheet-driven processes. You will lead the evaluation, selection, and deployment of a modern accounting platform
- You will build FP&A from scratch. Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting are all yours to design. You will define what good looks like here.
- You will partner directly with the CEO. This is a genuine seat at the table. You will be the financial voice in strategic decisions, providing the analytical rigor and discipline that supports confident, informed growth.
- The scope is CFO-level. Full P&L ownership, systems strategy, team building, and board-level reporting — the breadth of a CFO role at a much larger organization, with the hands-on involvement of a growing company.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serving as the senior finance leader for the business, reporting directly to the CEO with a dotted-line relationship to the parent company's Division CFO
- Transitioning all accounting and finance operations in-house from an outsourced provider
- Owning the month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Leading the selection and implementation of a new ERP platform
- Building and owning budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Managing and developing a team of financial analysts, and driving Power BI dashboard and reporting infrastructure
- Partnering with revenue-generating teams on pricing analysis, product economics, and profitability modeling
- Providing analytical rigor and disciplined financial perspective to executive decision-making
- Scaling the finance organization as the company grows
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience with industry experience in financial services, insurance, or investment banking finance
- Strong technical accounting foundation — you understand financial statements, month-end close, and how transactions flow through the balance sheet
- Progressive finance leadership experience with demonstrated ownership of accounting and FP&A functions
- Hands-on operator mindset; comfortable doing the work, not just managing people who do it
- Confidence and executive presence — the ability to hold your own with sophisticated, intellectually demanding stakeholders and to respectfully challenge assumptions
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capability
