VP of Construction, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $200,000/year USD
Crossover
Job Description
Opening one school is achievable for most operators. Opening many schools consistently, efficiently, and with increasing velocity is rare.
2 Hour Learning is establishing a nationwide school network engineered to condense an entire day of instruction into two concentrated hours through AI technology. This model demands that expansion be executed with the same precision as the educational product. This role is designed to deliver that outcome.
You will oversee the complete lifecycle of new school sites—from initial acquisition through operational readiness—while constructing the frameworks that make every opening faster, more efficient, and increasingly reliable.
This is not conventional real estate development. You are not joining to simply oversee projects. You are here to remove obstacles from the expansion process.
That requires making decisive judgments on site feasibility, engaging directly with permitting and construction challenges, negotiating vendor agreements, and maintaining relentless timeline discipline. Simultaneously, you will deconstruct each stage of this process into standardized, AI-enabled systems that minimize manual intervention and sharpen forecasting precision with each iteration.
If you have delivered real construction projects and find yourself frustrated by prolonged schedules, unclear accountability, and recurring errors, this is your opportunity to solve those problems—at scale.
What You Will Be Doing
- Execute critical site selection decisions by assessing zoning regulations, permitting pathways, cost structures, and timeline viability through structured and AI-supported evaluation
- Oversee multiple concurrent school construction projects, directing construction managers, clearing obstacles, and securing on-time, on-budget campus launches
- Create comprehensive, decision-ready capital project proposals that synchronize stakeholders around scope, budget, and implementation approach
- Direct vendor qualification, RFP processes, and contract negotiations with an emphasis on velocity, quality, and financial discipline
- Break down expansion processes into discrete operational units and implement AI-powered systems that shorten delivery cycles and enhance predictability
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Operating as a passive coordinator who waits for status updates from contractors or external partners
- Focusing narrowly on a single phase (e.g., site selection or construction alone) without accountability for the complete result
- Using manual, improvised approaches that require reinvention at each new location
- Delegating problems upward without intervening directly to resolve permitting, design, or construction obstacles
- Investing extended periods in stakeholder alignment without driving concrete decisions
VP Of Construction Key Responsibilities
Oversee the complete expansion lifecycle for new school locations by delivering fully operational campuses on reliable schedules while systematically decreasing time, cost, and risk through AI-enhanced systems.
Basic Requirements
- Demonstrated experience directing at least one real estate development or construction initiative from site selection to operational opening with complete accountability
- Background managing multiple simultaneous construction or capital projects with direct ownership of schedules, coordination, and problem resolution
- Deep fluency in zoning regulations, permitting procedures, construction execution, and vendor management, with capability to interact directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory agencies
- Proven capacity to make informed tradeoff decisions involving cost, schedule, and feasibility with clear, quantifiable results
- Experience refining or designing complex operational processes (e.g., permitting workflows, design coordination, construction delivery)
- Confirmed ability to deconstruct complex processes into structured, replicable frameworks and enhance them iteratively
- Track record of leveraging tools (AI or other technologies) to minimize manual effort, expedite decision-making, or enhance execution velocity
- Strong sense of ownership with comfort operating in ambiguous environments and delivering tangible outcomes
- Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to active construction sites nationwide and maintain on-site presence during critical development and opening phases
- Currently based in the US and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
Experience scaling multi-site development or expansion initiatives
History of enhancing forecast accuracy and shortening project delivery timelines
