Job Title: Waste Resource Management Operative
Location: Antrim
Salary: £13.26 per hour plus 17.25% Waste Allowance (£15.55 per hour including allowance)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: 4 days out of a rolling 7-day rota, including 1 Sunday per month
Duration: Temporary contract - up to 6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Application Deadline: Thursday 28 May 2026 at 12:00 Noon About the Role: On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting a Waste Resource Management Operative to support the delivery of high-quality waste collection, recycling, and environmental services across the Borough. The successful candidate will assist with Household Recycling Centre operations, waste collection duties, street cleansing, and recycling services while ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with health and safety procedures. Key Responsibilities: • Carry out waste collection and recycling duties in line with Council standards
- Assist drivers whilst reversing vehicles where appropriate
- Support Household Recycling Centre operations and assist members of the public with waste disposal
- Maintain recycling facilities and maximise waste diversion from landfill
- Carry out street cleansing duties including litter picking, sweeping, fly-tipping removal, and cleaning public areas
- Assist with the collection of bulky household waste and garden waste
- Carry out gritting and snow clearance duties during severe weather conditions
- Maintain records, documentation, and associated administrative tasks
- Assist with the delivery of Council communications including leaflets and notices
- Ensure vehicles, work areas, and equipment are maintained safely and appropriately
- Deliver excellent customer service to members of the public
- Comply with all Council health & safety, equality, and operational procedures Essential Criteria: • Minimum of 6 months' previous relevant work experience in a waste environment
- Basic literacy skills with the ability to read instructions and communications
- Flexible approach to work duties and working patterns
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Computer literacy sufficient to use systems such as TMS/GPS
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures including manual handling and reversing assistance
- Knowledge of waste collection, disposal, and recycling issues
- Commitment to providing a high-quality customer-focused service Desirable Criteria: • Valid driving licence
- Safety at Works legislation knowledge
- Minimum of 12 months' experience in a waste environment
