Job Description
Job Overview
A mid-sized law firm with offices throughout California and Nevada is seeking an attorney with experience in Employment Law or Workers' Compensation to join its Newport Beach office. This role involves handling litigation matters, client counseling, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances in a collaborative and professional environment.
Duties
- Advise clients on legal matters and provide strategic legal guidance
- Prepare and manage case files from inception through resolution
- Draft legal documents, including motions, contracts, memoranda, and other pleadings
- Review discovery materials and develop a litigation strategy
- Attend hearings, mediations, court appearances, and case-related conferences
- Conduct and defend depositions, including expert and witness depositions
- Collaborate with legal team members on trial preparation and litigation strategy
- Research legal issues, analyze rulings, and identify potential legal risks
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case developments and status updates
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Employment Law, including PAGA matters, or Workers' Compensation
- Significant experience handling depositions, motions, mediations, and court appearances
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters and maintain organized case management practices
- Professional demeanor and strong ethical standards
- Administrative or managerial experience preferred
Education and Certifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar membership required
