Job Description
Position Overview
In the Department of Academic Nursing, Teaching Faculty are individuals whose primary role is didactic, simulation, clinical instruction, or oversight of clinical courses. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing course content. Teaching assignments are provided by the Department Chair.
Qualifications
- Education and/or experience in the assigned course area.
- Maintains certification/recertification as a CRNA and participates in faculty practice as defined by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Maintains RN licensure and recognition as a CRNA in North Carolina.
- Holds unencumbered certification as a CRNA.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and revises course syllabi and associated course materials to ensure contemporary relevance.
- Administers courses consistent with Department of Academic Nursing expectations to support student success.
- Coordinates with the library to secure access to course materials for enrolled graduate students.
- Develops and administers assessments using best practices to measure student knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Provides individual consultation to graduate students regarding course content, as needed.
- Maintains accountability for course performance outcomes.
- Submits student grades in accordance with departmental policy.
- Communicates in a timely manner with students, department leadership, and educational tract leadership.
- Adheres to and implements relevant policies and procedures.
- Fulfills expectations related to teaching, service, and scholarship consistent with academic rank.
- Conducts clinical site visits, as appropriate to course assignment.
