About The Role
Backend Engineer (Remote, Spain). We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our growing team. The position is fully remote and requires you to be based in Spain.
You’ll become a core part of an expanding, dynamic team responsible for developing scalable product features using modern development patterns. You should love innovating and problem‑solving, and you’ll thrive when building systems that work efficiently at an increasingly larger scale. Our current backend technology stack is primarily Python; strong production experience with Python is required, but your expertise will help shape our technology strategy.
You will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies—personalisation, AI‑assisted analytics, and engagement—to drive complex online solutions from idea generation through to implementation.
Responsibilities
- Work with development teams and product managers to conceptualise and implement software solutions.
- Build elegant and performant APIs and handlers.
- Develop and manage well‑functioning datastores and services.
- Proactively propose and implement improvements to the codebase.
- Mentor other engineers to support their growth.
- Design and code solutions for systems with high volumes of transactions per second.
- Collaborate with other high‑performing departments to revolutionise the product.
Required Skills And Experience
- Expertise and extensive experience using Python in a production environment.
- Defining, implementing, and testing:
- APIs
- Event handlers
- Business logic
- Integrations with third‑party systems.
- Production SQL and NoSQL database experience.
- Experience using Docker in production, ideally with Kubernetes or Fargate/ECS/EKS.
- Experience building, maintaining, testing, and documenting features for other developers—both internally and externally.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to achieve goals in a highly innovative and fast‑paced environment.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem.
- Experience with cloud monitoring systems such as Datadog.
- Experience with ElasticSearch, MongoDB, or similar.
- Interest in AI as a tool for increasing developer efficiency.

- 2nd stage – Technical task (60 min).
- 3rd stage – Values interview (30 min).
