Overview
We are seeking a Business Analyst for the Canadian Wealth Management Business Initiatives team to support the planning, analysis, and execution of cross‑line strategic initiatives across ScotiaMcLeod, MD Financial Management, and SJF.
As a key member of the Business Initiatives function, the BA partners with the Director, Product Owner team, and stakeholders to conduct research, gather and document requirements, and support initiatives from concept through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed research and analysis to support strategic initiatives and business priorities across Canadian Wealth Management.
- Gather, document, and validate business requirements from business line SMEs and key stakeholders.
- Analyze current state processes, identify gaps, and support development of future state recommendations.
- Prepare clear, structured documentation including business requirements, process maps, and supporting materials.
- Support engagement with business line partners to understand day‑to‑day challenges and opportunities.
- Consolidate input from multiple stakeholders into consistent, well‑documented insights for review by the Director and broader team.
- Assist in tracking and organizing business feedback to inform prioritization and decision‑making.
- Support the documentation of client and advisor journeys, including identifying pain points and improvement opportunities.
- Assist in ensuring solutions are aligned with business needs and are consistent across lines of business.
- Track initiative deliverables, timelines, and dependencies.
- Assist in preparing materials for working sessions and stakeholder updates.
- Maintain documentation and artifacts to support transparency, auditability, and knowledge sharing.
- Monitor progress against key milestones and alert the Director to risks or issues when appropriate.
- Ensure all documentation and analysis aligns with the Bank’s risk, compliance, and governance requirements.
- Incorporate regulatory considerations (e.g., CIRO and OSC) into business requirements and process design.
- Maintain organized records of decisions, approvals, and key artifacts for audit and regulatory reviews.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team environment by supporting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to delivering high‑quality outputs.
- Maintain a client‑ and advisor‑focused mindset in all analysis and deliverables.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited university (business, finance, or related field preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in wealth management, financial services, or business analysis roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into clear documentation.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements in a structured format.
- Familiarity with wealth management business models (full‑service brokerage, advisory, and investment counsel) is an asset.
- Understanding of regulatory considerations impacting wealth management (e.g., CIRO, OSC) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and process mapping/documentation tools (e.g., Visio).
