Job SummaryA leading pharmaceutical organisation is looking for an entrepreneurial API commercial professional to strengthen its global commercials team and drive new growth opportunities across international markets. The role is suited for someone who has worked beyond routine sales delivery and has experience in building and scaling new products, customers, markets, or commercial opportunities from an early stage.The role will involve managing key customers end-to-end, identifying high-potential API products, supporting new product commercialisation across regulated markets, and working closely with senior leadership to build a stronger and more scalable commercial engine. The ideal candidate should bring strong API sales experience, market understanding, scientific orientation, and the ability to connect chemistry, customer demand, patents, patent cliffs, regulatory readiness, and commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities1.Build & Scale Commercial OpportunitiesIdentify and build new commercial opportunities across API products, customers, and marketsDrive early-stage growth initiatives including new customer development, new product promotion, and market entry opportunitiesScale under-penetrated products by creating structured customer, market, and product-level plansWork with leadership to strengthen the commercial engine beyond routine sales execution
2.New Product CommercialisationSupport validation and movement of new products into relevant global markets, including US and EuropeEvaluate new products from a chemistry, market, patent, patent-cliff, customer-demand, and commercial feasibility perspectiveCollaborate with internal teams across R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial functions to enable product readinessBuild market-backed inputs for product prioritisation and portfolio expansion
3.Key Account & Customer OwnershipManage assigned key customers end-to-end across relevant marketsOwn customer-level planning, relationship management, pricing inputs, negotiations, and business reviewsBuild deeper engagement with strategic customers to identify new business opportunitiesDrive both existing product business and new product adoption with key accounts
4.Market Intelligence & Portfolio StrategyTrack market trends, customer demand, competitive landscape, regulatory developments, and patent-cliff opportunitiesProvide inputs for portfolio enhancement and product promotion strategyIdentify which products need stronger commercial push based on market attractiveness and customer potentialOwn content for internal portfolio discussions, reviews, and leadership updates
5.Cross-Functional & Leadership InterfaceWork closely with regional sales heads and senior leadership to strengthen bandwidth for new product growthCollaborate across commercial, R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, and portfolio teamsSupport leadership in building scalable commercial processes and sharper market focusBring an ownership-driven approach with the ability to operate in an evolving and high-growth setup
Qualifications & Experience:10 to 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical B2B sales / commercials, preferably in APIsStrong API background is required; experience may be from human health or animal health pharmaceutical businessesDemonstrated experience in building and scaling new business opportunities, new products, new customers, or new marketsGood understanding of international markets such as US, Europe, LATAM, India, or other regulated / semi-regulated marketsExposure to new product launch, product validation, commercialisation, portfolio movement, or market entry will be strongly preferredAbility to understand chemistry, market potential, patents, patent cliffs, and regulatory implications from a commercial lensEducational background in pharmacy, chemistry, chemical sciences, or a related field preferredManagement degree from a reputed institute will be an added advantageStrong communication, presentation, and senior stakeholder management skillsEntrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership, ambiguity-handling ability, and commercial drive
