Director, Media (Fixed-Term) is accountable for designing and implementing connected, story-driven, full-funnel experiences while bringing marketplace innovation and thoughtleadership into the agency and to our clients. You will work in close partnership with Strategy to bridge and translate integrated marketing strategy into paid media strategyacross a select group of accounts. You will work closely with Client Services and department heads to build strong relationships across teams while also ensuring ourwork product is always thoughtful to the entire customer experience across paidchannels and every other brand touchpoint our audiences will use in their journey.
In delivering this accountability, the Director, Media supports the Vice President, Media in cultivating a team capable of delivering outstanding customer experiences andoutcomes for our clients, driving product growth and advancement throughout the organization. Proven leadership experience, established mentorship success stories,extensive integrated media experience and strategic thinking are all vital in thisposition.
What you are responsible for:
Internal
- Lead global media strategy development, from campaign planning to clientrecommendations, which includes team vision and oversight across all phases of theprocess for select group of accounts
- Work in lockstep with other Media leads for cross-pollination of ideas andconcepts to drive innovation and growth across clients
- Stay apprised of client business issues, category insights and competition,translating challenges into solutions
- Work closely with the Strategy team to develop omnichannel and digitalstrategies for global client briefs, ensuring that recommendations and decisionsare consistent with clients' global goals and support regional KPIs
- Support discussions with regional agency leadership on all planning efforts,channels and timelines, ensuring there is full transparency and clarity
- Gather deep insights on target audiences, helping media teams understand newaudiences, including using syndicated research and digital tools to define audiences and create insights on media consumption, attitudes, and contentpreferences
- Understand and articulate buyer personas, roles in purchase decisions, andmedia intersection with their content consumption
- Maintain a comprehensive grasp of the current data and technologyenvironment relevant to formulating a data strategy for first-party and/or third-partyinitiatives
- Lead competitive analysis and derive insights to inform investment strategy andidentifying white space opportunities
- Understand regional media consumption and channel preference variancesbetween regions and/or markets
- Partner with the agency's regional client leadership, strengthening theirunderstanding and media product through education
- Own and foster growth in the relationships with agency partners, whereapplicable
- Oversee the translation of plan to inputs for activation; direct and advise onoptimizations throughout campaign life cycle to meet and/or exceedperformance goals
- Remain fully embedded in all aspects of the campaign including the planning process, through campaign execution and measurement
Customers
- Work closely with Client Service leads to ensure strong senior client relationships on all active accounts providing thought leadership, innovation, and new ways of using media
- Convey marketplace insights and competitive knowledge to the global planning process, leading with insights in all client discussions and ensuring all angles are considered
- Cultivate senior media and marketing client relationships, guiding strategic discussions and managing all global timelines
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of our client landscape, competitors and B2B media marketplace
- Acts as core participant in development and delivery of agency RFP responses and pitches, as applicable
Market Knowledge
- Keep current with global industry trends and ongoing platform evolutions and solution innovation
- Lead agency point of view on the future of media, related technologies, and strategies to drive client success
- Participate and contribute to agency thought leadership initiative, including active industry leadership via attendance at annual conferences, participation in speaker panels and contribution to industry blogs
Management Responsibilities
- For a select group of accounts, dotted-line and direct line management of team,mentoring, coaching, and ensuring best practices are shared and maintained
- Contribute to internal training and development initiatives specific to agencymedia strategy capabilities and function
What you’ll bring (knowledge, skills, and/or experience)
Experience
- 9+ years of experience in a digital marketing environment, agency and/or client experience
- 5+ years' experience in strategy and planning of B2B media campaigns
- 6+ years ' experience managing a team of direct reports
- 2+ years of international and/or cross-regional experience
- 2+ years experience designing and leading B2B media strategy across multiple teams and functions globally
The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $165,000–$185,000 USD based on a good‑faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation within this range will depend on factors including experience, skills, and geographic location.
