Engineering and Design Processes Engineer

Base Pay Range
$56.00/hr - $95.00/hr
Location: Remote
Length of Assignment: 12 months

Responsibilities
Process Mapping & Integration
- Analyze, interpret, and document the Owner’s existing engineering and project execution processes.
- Map Owner processes to corresponding EPC engineering workflows to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Identify areas where EPC processes diverge from Owner requirements and propose integration or harmonization strategies.
- Develop and maintain clear process documentation, flowcharts, and guidance materials.
EPC Support & Coordination
- Serve as the subject‑matter point of contact for EPC engineering teams regarding Owner processes and requirements.
- Provide guidance, clarification, and troubleshooting support to EPC disciplines as they navigate Owner workflows.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions, process training, and onboarding for EPC engineering staff.
- Monitor EPC adherence to Owner processes and elevate issues when needed.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current process mappings and recommend improvements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives involving both the Owner and EPC organizations.
- Ensure process alignment with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project governance frameworks.
- Track compliance, prepare reports, and support process audit activities.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering leads, project managers, QA/QC teams, document control, procurement, and construction stakeholders.
- Act as the liaison between Owner process owners and EPC engineering leadership.
- Facilitate workshops to resolve process ambiguities or conflicts between Owner and EPC organizations.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Nuclear, or related field).
- 6–10 years of experience in EPC project environments, preferably in the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
- Experience working directly with structured process frameworks (e.g., gated engineering processes, project lifecycle management, quality management systems).
- Prior experience in process engineering, project engineering, or project management is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of EPC project execution phases (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning).
- Familiarity with process mapping methodologies (e.g., BPMN, SIPOC, flowcharting).
- Understanding of project governance, quality assurance, configuration management, and engineering work processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering deliverables, specifications, and procedures.
- Process‑oriented thinking: ability to analyze, optimize, and communicate complex workflows.
- Communication & facilitation: strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach EPC teams and translate requirements clearly.
- Problem solving: ability to troubleshoot process bottlenecks and provide practical solutions.
- Collaboration: effective at working across both Owner and EPC organizations, building strong relationships.
- Attention to detail: ensures accuracy in process documentation and compliance tracking.
- Adaptability: able to manage process needs across multiple disciplines and changing project conditions.
- Technical writing: skilled in preparing clear, concise process documents and guidance materials.
Estimated Compensation Range: $56-$95 per hour. All experience levels considered.
