Job Description
Job Title Experienced Airport/Aerodrome Air Traffic Controller – Winnipeg Tower (2 Positions) Job Summary Operating out of air traffic control towers, Air Traffic Controllers (Airport/Aerodrome Controllers) provide pilots clearances and instructions to maintain separation from other aircraft during takeoff and landing. Their job is to maintain a safe and orderly flow of air traffic within a defined airspace surrounding the airport, referred to as a “control zone”, as well as on the ground on runways and taxiways. This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity located in Winnipeg, MB.
What You’ll Do Assess the traffic, plan traffic flow, and separate the air traffic by determining and applying radar or non‑radar separation standards. Issue clearances and instructions, and relay messages and pertinent information. Coordinate the movement of arriving and departing traffic with appropriate control positions, sectors, specialties, centres, towers, flight service stations and flight information centres.
Enter information on flight data strips, electronically or in writing, and post the strips on a data board. Operate, monitor, and adjust telephone, radio, radar and other electronic equipment. Prepare and complete duties and requirements specified in unit directives.
Provide flight information and radar service to VFR aircraft. Accommodate special users of airspace (e.g., paradrops, military missions, photo survey flights, RPAS). Integrate aircraft performing exercises that do not conform with the normal traffic pattern (e.g., military and civilian training flights, NAVCANADA aircraft flight checks).
Respond to emergencies. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Education: Successful completion of high‑school or equivalent.
Successful completion of an Airport/Aerodrome (Tower) Air Traffic Controller training program or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience as a licensed Air Traffic Controller (Airport/Aerodrome Controller) in a complex environment. Desired Qualities Sound judgment in complex situations.
Clear communication in English. High motivation and initiative. Strong recall and attention to detail.

Competitive salary between $126,292 and $182,558 CAD. ATC Premium of $14,416 CAD per year upon successful completion of training (ATC Premium level7). Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Relocation support. Working Conditions Must meet security requirements of the position. Must hold a valid Transport Canada Category2 aviation medical.
Must be willing to complete a pre‑employment drug test (including cannabis). Shift work is required. The position is onsite and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
