Finance Manager

We're working with a PE-backed business based in North Melbourne to find a Finance Manager who's ready to step into a high-ownership, high-visibility role.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll take part in owning month-end, managing an offshore team, and building out the processes and controls that support a business operating at pace. This role will be 5 days in the office with a car spot provided.

What you'll be doing:

• Own month-end and year-end close processes, delivering accurate financials within strict timelines
• Prepare and distribute management accounts - P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Maintain internal controls aligned with PE governance and audit standards
• Own statutory compliance across ATO, ASIC, banking, and external audit requirements
• Identify control gaps and drive remediation

Planning, Forecasting & Business Support

• Support the CFO on budgeting, rolling forecasts, and cash flow management
• Prepare board- and sponsor-ready reporting packs with a clear focus on risks, variances, and actions
• Act as a finance business partner - translating financial outcomes into clear business actions

Systems, Process & Scalability

• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes to improve speed and accuracy
• Enhance reporting capabilities across Xero, Power BI, and related tools
• Lead automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and key person risk
• Lead and develop a small offshore finance team with clear accountability standards
• Build a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement
• Provide coaching and structured feedback to uplift team capability

Who we’re looking for:

• CA or CPA qualified required
• 3–6 years in finance or accounting, ideally with Big 4 or mid-tier professional services background
• Experience in a high-growth & fast paced environment
• Hands-on month-end, tax compliance, financial reporting experience required
• Comfortable managing offshore or shared service teams ideal
• Experience in XERO ideal
• Strong ownership mindset - someone who gets things done without being pushed
