Job Description
Our client, a leading engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy, water infrastructure, and sustainable development are looking to hire a Financial Accountant on a temporary basis for their operations in Sligo.
This is a Hybrid role after 6 months for a candidate who is a qualified professional eager to manage essential financial operations while supporting the commercial success of our clients engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Control & Month-End: Own the month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of journals, prepayments, accruals, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations.
- Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register, calculate and post monthly depreciation, and support capital expenditure tracking and project capitalisation.
- Project & Commercial Accounting: Partner with project managers and engineers to monitor project budgets, analyse spend variances, and support financial forecasting for ongoing engineering works.
- Intercompany & Treasury: Oversee intercompany invoicing, multi-currency reconciliations, and group balance reconciliations alongside daily cash position reporting.
- Compliance & Reporting: Assist with statutory audits, and ensure accurate and timely Revenue returns (VAT, VIES, PAYE/PRSI and CSO).
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement efficiencies in financial processes, internal controls, and general ledger reporting structures.
- Confidentiality & Governance: Handle all sensitive financial, commercial, and payroll data with strict confidentiality and in full compliance with corporate governance standards.
Key Requirements
- Education & Qualification: Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA) with a relevant Level 8 Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 3+ years of progressive finance experience gained within industry or rotational graduate programmes, encompassing shared services, operations, or management accounting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with major enterprise resource planning and accounting systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Core Competencies: Strong technical understanding of financial reporting, robust analytical capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across departments, explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders, manage tight reporting deadlines, and safeguard confidential information.
