Position Title: Senior General Manager / Assistant Vice President - Procurement
Department: Raw Material Purchase / Procurement
Location: Ahmedabad
Reporting To: Directors
Job Purpose :We are seeking an experienced procurement leader to drive sourcing strategy, vendor development, and commercial negotiations for agrochemical raw materials. The role will be responsible for managing high-volume global sourcing (primarily India & China), optimizing costs, and ensuring compliance with quality, regulatory, and EHS standards.
Key Responsibilities :Strategic Sourcing & NegotiationDevelop and execute sourcing strategies for key raw materials including technical grade pesticides, intermediates, and solventsLead commercial negotiations and finalize long-term contracts to ensure competitive pricing and favorable termsVendor ManagementIdentify, evaluate, and onboard reliable domestic and international suppliersBuild and maintain a strong supplier network with regular performance assessmentsCost OptimizationDrive cost reduction initiatives and achieve annual savings targetsMonitor global market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risksSupply Chain & PlanningEnsure uninterrupted supply of raw materials and packaging materials to support manufacturing operationsMinimize production downtime through efficient planning and coordinationCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with R&D, Quality, Finance, and Warehouse teamsSupport new product development and ensure raw material quality standardsCompliance & EHSEnsure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelinesMaintain compliance with regulatory requirements in sourcing practicesTeam LeadershipLead and mentor procurement teamsDrive operational efficiency and best practices across procurement functions
Required Qualifications & ExperienceB.Sc. (Agri) / M.Sc. (Agri) / B.E. (Chemical) / B.Tech / MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management25-30 years of experience in procurement within Agrochemicals, Pesticides, or Specialty ChemicalsStrong expertise in sourcing active ingredients, intermediates, and specialty chemicalsProven experience in global sourcing (especially China & India markets)Hands-on experience with SAP MM Module or similar ERP systemsExcellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skillsWillingness to travel extensively for global vendor development
