Job Description
The Group Financial Controller is a senior leadership position responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls across the Group’s portfolio of businesses. This role partners closely with the CFO and business unit finance teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial information that supports strategic decision-making.
Group Consolidation & ReportingLead the preparation of Group consolidated financial statements in accordance with SFRS(I)/IFRS across all business units and geographiesOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual group/close process, ensuring timeliness and accuracyOversee group intercompany transactions and eliminationsManage relationships with external auditors and responsible for the finalisation of the annual statutory audits for Group and HQ entitiesPrepare decks covering financial reporting for Board and Audit Committee meetings
HQ Accounting & ReportingOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for HQ entities, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
Technical Accounting & Finance Policy GovernanceEstablish and maintain group-wide financial and accounting policies and ensure consistent application and complianceProvide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions (M&A, leases, revenue recognition)
Planning & BudgetingOversee and drive the group-wide annual budgeting process, coordinating submissions from business units and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and financial target
Internal Controls & ComplianceDesign, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework which includes Group financial governance framework and controls standardsOversee risk-based reviews of financial controls across business unitsEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements of jurisdictions where HMI Group entities operate inSupport Audit Committee and Board on matters relating to financial governance and risk
Oversight of Group TaxProvide functional oversight of Tax.Responsible for ensuring that the Group and entities stay compliant with the tax and transfer pricing regulations in all jurisdictions where HMI Group entities operate inPartner CFO to assess tax implications on acquisitions, JVs, internal restructurings, etc
Finance TransformationDrive finance transformation initiatives that create efficiencies and added value across the Group’s finance organisation and processes, including ERP (Workday) implementations, enhancements and governanceChampion continuous improvement in financial processes, process automation, reporting efficiency, and data quality
Team LeadershipLead, mentor and develop a team of finance professionals across business unitsBuild capability within the finance function and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
RequirementsDegree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent; CA/CPA qualification preferredMinimum 12–15 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a group or multi-entity controllership roleA background in a Big 4 or similar professional services environment, combined with commercial experience, would be advantageous.Deep expertise in SFRS(I)/IFRS and Singapore regulatory requirementsPrior experience in healthcare services, or a similarly complex regulated industry an advantageStrong technical accounting skills including consolidation, M&A accounting, etcDemonstrated experience managing external auditors and Audit CommitteesHands-on experience with Tier 1 ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent); Workday Finance exposure an advantageExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsHigh integrity, sound judgment, and ability to operate effectively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
