Casa Nela is actively hiring a Human Resources Generalist to join our NYC team supporting our 7 locations in NYC and Miami.
Casa Nela is a collection of European influenced NYC restaurants including Rosemary's, Claudette, Bobo, and Roey's. We are passionate about amazing culinary experiences, spirited hospitality, and our community in NYC & beyond.
The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources department, responsible for administering and managing a broad range of HR functions. This role is crucial in supporting all Casa Nela properties across areas including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws.
The Generalist serves as a resource for employees and management on HR policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Conduct employee relations investigations, including disciplinary issues and grievances, and recommend appropriate resolution steps in consultation with the Director of Human Resources.
- Oversee and manage Anti-Harassment Training compliance per NYS law for all new and existing employees on an annual basis.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., I-9, EEO, wage and hour).
- Manage administration of employee life cycle events including pay rate and position changes, employee contact information, and separations.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for line level and select leadership positions, including creating and maintaining job postings, screening candidates, and managing the interview process.
- Manage the facilitation of the Open Call process with the operations team.
- Oversee and administer the new hire onboarding process, ensuring all digital and paper documentation (e.g., I-9 verification, new hire paperwork) is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and complete applicant tracking to ensure a pipeline of candidates.
Training & Development
- Assist in creating and updating new training SOPs and documents for line level and leadership teams.
- Facilitate and manage Casa Classrooms and other training classes for staff.
- Conduct training for new and existing members of the leadership team on HR technology such as Toast Payroll and Teamwork.
- Assist with the onboarding of leadership team members when needed.
HR Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and complete employee records and personnel files at all times, following all applicable laws.
- Manage HR mail, filing quizzes, communication notes, and other employee documents.
- Pull and analyze reports from the payroll system (e.g., labor, compliance, retention) for management requests.
- Assist with other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
