The OpportunityWe are hiring our first Internal Legal Counsel to be Eden India's in-house legal authority and to build the legal function from the ground up. This is a founding role - you will be the person the leadership team turns to when a decision has legal weight, and your judgement will shape how Eden India operates for years to come.
What You Will OwnServe as Eden India's primary in-house legal authority, advising the leadership team across regulatory, commercial, and compliance mattersOwn end-to-end regulatory compliance for Eden India's pharmacy and healthcare operationsLead the legal strategy for Eden India's licensing pathway and ongoing regulatory standingPartner with operations leadership on regulator relationships - licence applications, renewals, inspections, and regulatory correspondenceOwn compliance under the data protection and privacy framework applicable to Eden IndiaDraft, review, and negotiate all commercial contracts - supplier, vendor, physician, technology, logistics, real estate, and employmentOwn Eden India's corporate legal hygiene - entity compliance, statutory filings, and cross-border arrangementsBuild the legal and compliance framework: policies, SOPs, escalation pathways, and documentationManage external counsel for specialist regulatory, litigation, and IP mattersAdvise on consumer-facing legal matters - terms, marketing claims, grievance handling, and IP/brand protectionBe the first line for any legal escalation, and contribute to Eden India's product and market strategy as a member of the leadership team
What We Are Looking ForQualified advocate enrolled with a State Bar Council in IndiaSubstantive experience advising pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences businesses on Indian regulatory frameworks - this is a specialist role, not a generalist oneDeep working knowledge of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, the Pharmacy Act, 1948, and the NDPS Act, including the practical realities of working with State Drug Controllers and the central drug authorityWorking knowledge of the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines and the regulatory environment for digital health in IndiaWorking command of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the broader patient data and privacy landscapeFamiliarity with FEMA, corporate law, and the cross-border legal considerations that arise in an India entity with international touchpointsStrong commercial contracting background - you can draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements without leaning on outside counsel for routine workHas previously been the senior legal voice in the room, whether in-house at a healthcare or pharma company or in a specialist regulatory practiceComfortable making judgement calls in regulatory grey zones and standing behind those callsPragmatic - understands the difference between legal risk that matters and legal risk that doesn'tBrings the same precision to documentation, processes, and follow-through as to legal analysisThinks like a builder - energised by setting up a function from scratch, not stepping into an existing oneSeniority is open: we are more interested in the depth of regulatory expertise and the judgement you bring than in years on a CV
