Job Description
About the Role As an Event IT Technician, you will play a key role in delivering reliable technology and connectivity services across Olympia London’s exhibitions, conferences, and live events. You will be responsible for installing and supporting wired and wireless network solutions, including CAT5e cabling, internet services, and event technology infrastructure. Working closely with clients, organisers, exhibitors, and internal teams, you will provide 1st line technical support during live events, ensuring connectivity issues are resolved quickly and services operate seamlessly.
This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced event environment and delivering exceptional technical support. Key Responsibilities Lead event installation and present key information for pre‑event meetings. Mark‑up event floor plans with cabling and Wi‑Fi requirements.
Install event CAT5e cabling, including termination, jumping, and testing. Provide equipment as ordered (e.g., hubs, access points, patch leads). Provide port allocation information to the network team.
Provide data connectivity assistance and first line support throughout tenancy period. Provide support for telephone services throughout the tenancy period. Record, communicate, and escalate all appropriate tickets.
Recover any equipment after the event. Remove all voice and data cabling from exhibition floors and organisers' offices. Attend post‑event debriefs.
Ensure that all Health & Safety regulations are followed. Ensure that all equipment used complies with the company’s Health and Safety standards. Qualifications Ideally you will have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
Experience in cabling and terminating CAT5e. Experience in cable patching. Awareness of wireless technologies.
Excellent customer service skills and creative problem‑solving ability. Health and Safety awareness. IPAF license (preferable but not essential).
