Overview The office-based Material Coordinator is responsible for managing all activities necessary to enable effective end-to-end coordination of materials in support of Canadian Gas Projects. Reporting to the Manager of Material Coordination and Project Support, the core accountability of this role is to ensure that project materials are delivered on time and to the correct location to support project timelines. The successful candidate will be service-minded, work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineering, Supply Chain (SC) Buyers, Expeditors, and other key stakeholders to enable efficient and effective identification, requisitioning, and coordination of materials required for projects.
Responsibilities Review Bill of Material (BOM) with Project Engineer to identify materials to be supplied by TC, its Fabricators, or its Construction Contractor at milestones of 30%, 60%, and 90% design, and a final review of IFCs to confirm all materials are captured in the Material Coordinators tracking sheet. Work with Materials Management and Warehouse team to identify available inventory and/or surplus materials. Create SAP purchase requisitions (and/or SAP reservations for materials in inventory) based on design Bills of Materials provided by Project Engineering.
Create a request for a new Material Master if the existing SAP material catalogue does not provide appropriate alternatives. Help locate documents and records, including Material Test Records (MTRs), associated with project materials required in support of construction and commissioning activities. Resolve material discrepancies (e.g., quantities, quality, or supporting documentation) within each functional group.
Work with Expeditors to anticipate issues relating to materials (late deliveries, material shortages, or damages) and develop and execute recovery plans. Ensure Supplier and Fabricator deliveries are expedited on a predetermined schedule to ensure RAS (required at site) dates are met. Provide field-based construction team with relevant documentation.
Instruct the Warehouse to release and issue the materials to the Fabricator, or from the Fabricator to the site laydown yard and ultimately to the Construction Contractor. Coordinate physical receipt of material at the Warehouse, project site laydown yard, Fabricator, and/or Construction Contractor. Enter Goods Receipts for all items in SAP (except those delivered to TC warehouses – warehouse personnel will typically handle).
Identify surplus materials to be transferred to inventory and/or investment recovery. Minimum Qualifications 2 years related experience in a Project environment (preferably within oil and gas, pipeline, or power industries). Coordination expertise supporting Projects, material coordination, procurement, expediting, and/or warehousing.
Ability to manage multiple high‑priority projects and competing priorities. Preferred Qualifications Post-Secondary Education in a related field. Experience within the oil and gas, pipeline, or power industries.
General knowledge of material and equipment used in pipeline and facilities construction. Ability to read engineered design drawings and Bill of Materials. Superior computer skills, particularly experience with SAP requisitioning & receiving, and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Proficient in the use of AI and/or management of PowerBI dashboards. Superior written and oral communication skills, project management skills, analytical and problem‑solving skills. Please send your resume in confidence to [email protected].
