Role Description The Lead Mechanical / Product Design Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Hyderabad. This role oversees mechanical product design from concept through production, leading the design process and guiding a small engineering team. Daily responsibilities include developing and reviewing CAD models and drawings, performing design calculations, and coordinating with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, and procurement.
The role involves planning and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance activities, reviewing inspection reports, and resolving mechanical and product performance issues. The Lead Mechanical / Product Design Lead also collaborates with automotive and other technical stakeholders, ensures compliance with relevant standards, and supports continuous improvement in reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
Strong Mechanical Engineering foundation with experience in product design, mechanical systems, and applied engineering principles
- 8-12 years in mechanical / product design engineering
- Expert in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 with proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, detailing, and design documentation
- Proven track record taking a physical product from concept to working prototype
- Strong sheet metal and injection-moulded plastics experience
- Automotive domain exposure, including familiarity with vehicle systems, components, and industry practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience guiding technical teams and coordinating cross-functional projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on reliability and safety.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to prepare clear technical reports and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; advanced certifications in CAD or maintenance engineering are an advantage.
- Experience working on-site in an industrial or manufacturing environment; familiarity with relevant standards and regulations.
