Job Description
Located in Southern California, Eisenhower Health is a not-for-profit hospital seeking a Legal Counsel-Office of Legal Affairs.
Hybrid position - remote 4 days a week & 1 day on campus
Job Objective:
- Supports the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer, and Associate General Counsel by providing legal advice and contract support related to the operations of the health system. Serves as a generalist attorney with a primary focus on healthcare contracting. Manages a high volume of hospital agreements and provides timely, practical legal guidance to other attorneys in the department and business partners across the organization. Requires excellent time management, strong communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operational leaders and external partners.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor Degree
Licensure/Certification:
- Required: Must be a member of the State Bar of California in good standing or eligible to qualify as registered in-house counsel in State of California and will become a member of the State Bar of California in good standing within eighteen (18) months of hire
Experience:
- Required: Three (3) years of experience as an attorney in a law firm and/or in-house environment
Specialty Skills:
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of healthcare related vocabulary
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Understanding of contractual issues related to healthcare including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and related laws sufficient to address compliance requirements in agreements
- Working knowledge of healthcare law
- Ability to provide legal advice and counsel to healthcare leadership
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlinesWritten and verbal communication skills
- Excellent legal research and writing abilities
- Ability to manage periods of high-volume contract review
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) with a customer service orientation, with demonstrated competency to effectively interact at all levels across the organization to build successful relationships
