Location: London Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Our client is a major London-based real estate owner, investor and asset manager responsible for one of the UK's most prominent mixed-use estates. Backed by long-term institutional capital, the business oversees a diverse portfolio spanning offices, residential, retail, leisure and public realm assets, with a continued focus on sustainability, placemaking and long-term value creation. The Role They are seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join a small high-performing in-house legal team.
This is a broad position offering exposure across commercial real estate, asset management, financing and wider commercial matters. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide pragmatic legal advice and support strategic projects within a complex and highly regarded real estate platform. Key Responsibilities Real Estate & Asset Management Advise on a broad range of commercial property matters including leases, licences, utilities agreements and infrastructure arrangements.
Support asset management activities across a large mixed-use property portfolio. Provide legal support on property finance matters and real estate transactions. Work closely with internal teams to identify and manage legal risk across the portfolio.
Manage and coordinate external legal advisers where required. Corporate Transactions & Projects Support corporate transactions, financings and strategic business initiatives. Advise on new development, investment and operational projects.
Assist with transaction structuring, negotiation and execution of key documentation. Provide legal support on a range of ad hoc business matters. Commercial Contracts Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements across the business.
Advise stakeholders on contractual risk and commercial terms. Support procurement and operational contracting requirements. Assist with maintaining legal templates and governance processes.
General In-House Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders and project teams. Build strong relationships with internal business leaders and external advisers. Support compliance with internal governance and approval processes.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the real estate sector. Help educate stakeholders on legal risk and best practice. Candidate Profile Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with approximately 3–5 years' PQE.
Strong grounding in commercial real estate law gained within private practice and/or in-house. Experience providing clear, commercially focused advice to non-legal stakeholders. Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders. Commercial, proactive and collaborative approach.
Desirable Exposure to real estate finance transactions. Experience in construction, planning, corporate or disputes matters. Experience within the property, real estate investment or asset management sectors.
Previous in-house legal experience.
